Functional MR Data

Image

EPI data were collected from our 3 Tesla Siemens Trio (TR=1.75, TE=29ms, 64x64, FOV=240mm, slice thickness = 4mm, gap = 1mm).Subjects performed a motor tapping task in which subject alternated between rest (15 scans) and alternating finger tapping on the right hand (15 scans) for a total of 5 on-off cycle. We find the expected activation of the contralateral motor cortex, supplemental motor area, and ipsilateral cerebellum.

Proton Spectroscopic Imaging Data

Figure A Water scan (1 average) from an axial slice in a supra-ventricular location using 1st and 2nd order autoshimming and the following parameters: TR: 2 s, TE: 15 ms, FOV: 260 mm, slice thickness: 15 mm, spatial matrix: 32x32 pixels, nominal voxel size: 1 cm3. The water-suppressed acquisition (WS) scan time was 8.5 min using 8 averages, allowing collection of over 100 voxels. Right side shows 25 WS spectra from the central region.

Figure B Example of LC Model fitting (red tracing) of raw data (black tracing) from one voxel of mostly gray matter. On the right side highlighted in blue, are the concentrations of metabolites with most reliable fits (SD<20).

Figure C Maps of various metabolites concentrations across the axial slice. Top row are metabolites with best fits (SD<20), bottom row acceptable fits (<50). Notice good gray/white matter contrast for creatine (Cre) and glutamate (Glu) as well as for choline (Cho).
